On Monday 12th October 2009, Cromwell and Sandvik Coromant welcomed customers to a relaxed and informal “Challenge to Your Business” Open Day at the Sandvik Productivity Centre at Sandvik HQ in Halesowen.

This was a fantastic opportunity to talk to cutting tool specialists and discover improvements that could deliver cost efficiency and quality. Also a chance to meet key stakeholders from across the manufacturing industry, hear the latest from the guest speaker and take a look at the Brawn GP F1 Racing Car on display.

Sandvik Europe has been given a directive to organise these events in lieu of attendance to the EMO exhibition recently held in Milan Italy. The event provides customers and distributors with an opportunity to look at the latest cutting tool products and their application with machining demonstrations in the Sandvik Productivity Centre. In addition Cromwell conducted presentations and demonstrations of the Venda 365 and CAPS electronic vending machines along with an overview of our E-Sales web trading facility.

We were allocated the Monday as an “exclusive” Cromwell day during the week long event. Despite initial scepticisms regarding customer attendance Cromwell rose to the challenge and registration for attendance was so good that the event had to be split over two sessions covering the morning and afternoon.

Kim Olander (Senior Manager - Business Operations - Sandvik UK) agreed that the joint co-operation between Sandvik and Cromwell was excellent and the whole day was very well organised with first class hospitality and professionalism.

We wholeheartedly agree with Kim, as the day was a resounding success with excellent attendance figures. A “total team” effort from Cromwell and Sandvik, with an excellent outcome.

Special thanks to Chris Rose for co-ordinating the arrangements along with support from Zita Maxted and Victoria Hatfield. Also thanks to the Marketing team for their input and support. A special thanks to the Cromwell team for setting up the presentation facilities and for their attendance on the day: Ray Scott, Andrew J Swinley, Kevin Lowe and Ashley Slade. With Senior Management Support on the day also from Darren Taylor, Ian Bryant and David Jackson.

A fantastic day, which shows Sandvik and our customers exactly what Cromwell is all about. “Thank you” to everyone involved for their input.
