Guide Dogs
On Saturday 6th June Cromwell presented a cheque for £10,000 to representatives of the Guide Dog for the Blind Association, taking the number of guide dog’s sponsored to 40.
On the same day and in recognition of his dedication and support over 40 years it was fitting that Group Managing Director Michael Gregory was presented with a picture of the 40th dog named “Jimmy”. We would like to take this opportunity to also wish MG a Happy 65th Birthday, best wishes from all of the staff and management of the Cromwell Group.
The presentation was made by Cromwell Managing Director Michael Kerins on behalf of all of the management and staff of the group. Other dogs were presented to John & Beryl Shirley who have recently retired after 36 years combined service and another dog was presented in memory of Les Pullen to his two sisters Janet & Norma.
Other people in the picture above include Martin Cooke, Jill Ramsey, Bernie Easby and members of the local guide dog association.
The annual fishing match took place again at the Makin Pits at Wolvey was a rip roaring success due to the magnificent weather and the organisational skills of Zita, Bev, Greg and Alan my thanks go out to you all. Thanks must also must be given to Mr. Maxted Snr., Yvonne Wicks, Sharon Pollard, Linda Pamby and Andrew Mott and the landlord of the Bulls Head Wolvey for all their help in making this day memorable. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this year so Mike Hebborn and his guide dog attended and next year he hopes he will be fishing. We raised over £4,200 and with tax relief should bring the grand total to over £4,900 which is a magnificent achievement.
I must also thank Doncaster for raising £1,100, Grimsby raised £250 and Derby raised £200 from their Golf day. Even in these most difficult times, people are still working hard to raise money for our nominated company charity which has now topped £100,000. My personal thanks to all concerned.
