Tool Tips

Dictionary Definition Dictionary Definition:

Any of various tools coated with a material which is a nonconductor of electricity.

Please note that the cushioned grips on hand tools are not designed to protect you from an electrical shock. Take appropriate precautions when working with live electrical parts.

  1. Always use properly insulated tools when near or in contact with electricity supply. Look for the VDE® symbol on insulated tools. These tools are designed to reduce your risk of injury. Plastic or rubber coatings alone do not give enough protection.
  2. Always examine the tool's insulated coating for damage before use. Even the slightest damage can render the coating useless against electricity, and therefore could cause injury.
