MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To develop and grow Cromwell in a profitable way, by making it easy and pleasant for our customers and suppliers to do business with us.

To be responsible for the accurate posting and allocation of Cash receipts from our U.K network of customers to the relevant Customer Accounts on the Sales Ledger.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not definitive as you will be expected to take an active part in any branch operation when and if requested by a member of the Management Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  1. To take responsibility for the daily banking of monies received from customers including Cheques for Credit Accounts, Credit Transfers and Cash Sales.
  2. To ensure the accurate posting and allocation of BACS payments received from customers.
  3. To ensure the accurate posting and allocation of Cheque payments received from customers.
  4. To take control of unallocated cash.
  5. To work as part of the Sales Ledger Team and to cover for others within this team as/ when required.
  6. To liaise with both our branch network and Credit Controllers in order to resolve queries.
  7. To report to a member of the management team any risk or hazard that may contravene the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974).
  8. To comply with all parts of the Company’s Employee Information Handbook, which is available from local management or via the company’s intranet.
  9. To strictly adhere to the Company Vehicle Policy.
  10. To keep the branch and especially your work area clean, tidy and safe.
  11. To carry out any reasonable management request.

Essential

Desirable

Previous experience of Sales Ledger/ accounts

  • Previous experience within an accounts/ office environment
  • A basic accounting understanding
  • Previous experience within Sales Ledger

Communication

  • Telephone manner, expected to liaise with colleagues and branches from all levels thus must be able to do so confidently and effectively.
  • Must be a Team Player
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated

Computer skills

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

 

Organisational Skills

  • Must be well organised. Methodical approach, able to work to deadlines
