What is trunking?

Trunking (or sometimes known as conduits or cable trunking) is an enclosure that protects cables from damage and tampering, keeps them hidden, and allows for clean and minimalist installation to your home or office. They are made from 2 pieces, the carrier (trunking), and the cover (conduit), and carriers usually have adhesive backing to adhere to the wall (although some may need to be attached with fasteners). Trunking can be found in various sizes to accommodate different lengths and numbers of wires, as well as found in various shapes to follow the wall and fit around corners.

When is trunking used?

Trunking is used in domestic, commercial, and industrial environments to keep these areas clear from wires, cables, and clutter. Once you start having cables which need routing around a room and they could be damaged or potentially be a trip hazard, trunking would be a worthwhile investment.

Considerations when choosing a safety trainer

Overall length - The overall length is an important consideration to ensure you are getting the correct length of trunking for your required application.

Overall depth - The overall depth is an important consideration as it determines how far out the trunking will protrude from the wall. It should be considered to ensure that it doesn't catch with people walking by or get caught by objects being moved around.

Colour - The colour of the trunking could be a consideration to ensure it fits with the décor and theme of the room.

FAQs
