Why buy two-way radios?

Two-way radios, or walkie talkies as they're often called, are a great way to stay connected with colleagues. They're designed for industrial settings and are extremely durable, as well as having a great battery life to reduce charging downtime. If working in a noisy environment, most models feature noise-cancelling technology to allow for clearer communication regardless of the location. They're used widely by security guards, lone workers, and drivers to maintain reliable contact with their work base.

Two-way radio types

Walkie talkies are available in four common types, with different feature variations. All types utilise radio waves to transmit messages and feature multiple channels to group communications...

Desktop base station radios   -   These base stations act as a hub to connect to a series of handheld radios, which can be charged in a desk mounted docking station at the end of the day. These feature an antenna to extend their connection range to the hub, which acts as the wired network connection for the wireless radios.

Handheld two-way radios   -   These are the walkie-talkie variety that are regularly used by security guards, warehouse staff and porters. They provide a guaranteed connection and don't rely on WIFI to maintain communication.

Repeater base station two-way radios   -   Similar to the desktop base stations, the repeater acts as a central hub to receive and rebroadcast radio messages over greater distances, thus expanding your range of communication.

Vehicle-mounted two-way radios   -   Used in either a car, lorry or other engine-powered vehicle, these radios are powered by the battery. They deliver an average range which can be extended by mounting an antenna on the roof of the vehicle.
