Neil Jowsey

Managing Director

Neil Joined Cromwell from Arco in September 2018 as Managing Director. As a senior leader within the Grainger group of businesses, he is also Vice President/General Manager, Cromwell.

At Arco, where he served from 2007, Neil was appointed Joint Managing Director/Chief Executive in 2013 having served as Group Buying Director and Group Sales & Marketing Director. Prior to Arco, Neil held leadership roles at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Asda/Walmart – where he helped create the Asda ecommerce business – and at Mars, where he had sales responsibility for their largest customer, Tesco.

Neil has completed the INSEAD Advanced Management Programme, has a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from City University, London, and was previously a Board Director for Hull Bondholders and the British Safety Industry Federation. He is also non-executive Chairman of Ballyclare Group, an international group of companies that supplies specialist PPE clothing and workwear. Neil is married, has three children, and his family home is in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Jason joined Cromwell as Chief Financial Officer in March 2020. He is responsible for all aspects of our financial activities including controllership, treasury, financial analysis, internal audit, tax and financial operations, and also manages our IT function.

Jason has over 28 years in senior finance roles. Prior to joining Cromwell, he spent 22 years at Thomas Cook where he held a variety of senior finance positions. Jason’s wealth of experience, including supporting businesses during times of change, has had a significant impact on our OTC processes.

Home for Jason and his wife is a village in Rutland, and he has two grown-up children. In his spare time he enjoys walking, cooking for family and friends and listening to live music – as well as raising funds for local projects.

Ian joined Cromwell in September 2016 as Inventory projects manager. He took responsibility for inventory management at the end of 2017 and today controls all aspects of Inventory management, data and analytics and supply chain innovation as well as our Distribution Centre.

Prior to joining Cromwell, Ian held senior management positions at Office Depot where he worked for 12 years, starting as an inventory systems manager and eventually leading the European Demand Planning function. He also previously worked in paper wholesale for StoraEnso and Modo paper merchants.

Home for Ian is Hinckley in Leicestershire where he lives with his wife and two young sons. He’s an avid rugby fan and coach to his local youth team, and also enjoys mountain biking and rock climbing in his spare time.

Group Sales Director

Mathew joined Cromwell in October 2023 as Group Sales Director. Mathew has previous experience from Premier Farnell (AVNET) where he was Regional Sales Director for Northern Europe, Benelux, and Baltic States. He has had a dynamic career to date, much of which has been with RS Components where he started his career in Sales and progressed to Head of Fields Sales and Trade Counters.

Mathew has a degree in Business management and has attended London Business School.

Mathew lives in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, with his partner Sara and their daughter Isla. He’s a keen sports fan supporting Leeds United Football Club through to being an avid follower of Formula 1. He found a passion in Karate which he has been supporting Isla with since she was 5 years old.

Group Product and Marketing Director

Jemma joined Cromwell in October 2023 as Group Product & Marketing Director. In her role, Jemma leads the range and merchandising strategy from product sourcing and buying to merchandising and category management. In addition, Jemma is responsible for Marketing and CX developing brand and marketing strategies that resonate with our customers.

Jemma joined Cromwell with more than 25 years of retail and B2B experience having worked for some great brands such as B&Q, Homebase, Wolseley and Magnet in Supply Chain, Merchandising and Commercial Trading roles. Jemma has a BSC in Human and Physical Geography and a postgraduate diploma in management studies.

Jemma lives in rural Northamptonshire with her young daughter, Elodie and enjoys spending time in the countryside with her. Whilst weekends are often spent ferrying Elodie to birthday parties Jemma does try to run to keep fit.

Inventory and Commercial Director

David joined Cromwell in 1995 and has held several impactful roles across global distribution, operations, commercial and sales in his 27 years with the company.

He was appointed to the role of Product and Buying Director in December 2021 and is responsible for all aspects of product category management, vendor management, product marketing and merchandising, and much of our customer proposition with respect to pricing and commercial strategy.

Home for David is Nottinghamshire where he lives with his wife, with their children having flown the nest. David is an avid Leicester City FC supporter, and in his spare time he also enjoys film, dining out and amateur genealogy.

Supply Chain Director

Adam joined Cromwell in April 2018 as Outbound Logistics Manager. He took responsibility for all Distribution Centre operations in November 2021 and became Supply Chain Director in January 2023. Adam’s current responsibilities include overseeing Inventory Supply and Demand Planning, Distribution Operations, Transport, Facilities Management and Group Loss Prevention.

Prior to joining Cromwell, Adam held management roles at Wolseley UK, running Distribution operations at both their Measham and Leamington Spa facilities. Prior to that Adam, worked for the UK Mail Group (now DHL UK) for nine years operating across sites in Leicester, Nottingham, Stafford, and Milton Keynes in managerial capacities.

Adam is a graduate in the Executive MBA programme out of De Montfort University and holds a BA (Hons) in Journalism from Liverpool University. He is also an Enterprise Advisor supporting Leicestershire Secondary Schools, with a particular focus on career programmes. Home for Adam is Desford in Leicestershire where he lives with his wife and two young daughters. He’s an avid football supporter as an Aston Villa season ticket holder, as well as enjoying golf, movies, and time away with his family.

Claire Cobb

Human Resources Director

Claire joined Cromwell in 2005 and has worked across a variety of roles within the HR function along with supporting and leading wider business projects during her career to date. Across her extensive time with us Claire has progressed her career and in January this year was promoted to Human Resources (HR) Director.

In her role as HR Director Claire leads our people strategy which underpins our business strategy and purpose of keeping operations running and people safe. Claire’s focus is about creating a place for colleagues to grow, perform and love what they do.

Claire, who is a member of the Charted Institute of Personnel and Development, holds a BA (Hons) in English from the University of Leicester and postgraduate diplomas from De Montfort University and the University of Surrey in Personnel Management and Employment Law.

Outside of work Claire is a busy mum to two small boys, Joshua and Alfred, who along with her husband Richard are very keen sports enthusiasts. Finding time to relax can be a challenge but Claire is a keen campanologist, loves craft making along with going on adventures walking her two Brittany dogs, Raffles and Pinot.
